3 or more unexcused absence letters

Many students have 3 or more unexcused absences this year. We will send letters home with students today and tomorrow.

Please remember that if your child misses all or part of the day, we need a doctor note or a parent note. Students are allowed 5 notes each semester. Send the note to the school and bring it to the office within 3 days of the student returning. Otherwise, the absence is unexcused.

3 and 4 unexcused absences - Students will get a letter that lists their absences.
5 unexcused absences - We will send a referral to Spectra Care. The student needs to attend a Truancy Prevention class on a Saturday.
6 unexcused absences - The student and a parent or guardian must go to an Early Warning Meeting at the Houston County Career Academy (HCCA) in Dothan.
7 or more unexcused absences - We will send a referral to the Truancy Court.

Please make sure your child is in school every day. If they are sick or have another reason to miss school, please send a note.
